What is your website for?
Many times I am asked by clients to refresh or update an existing website. The first question always has to be, what is your objective? What is your website for? Quite often I get blank looks in return and the response is, 'we just need a web presence'.

Search made simple
There are three pieces of software that together make up a search engine. There is the SPIDER software, the INDEX software and the QUERY software. Having an understanding of what these three do will help in getting your website to the top of the search engines (and I promise, I'll try and keep it simple!).

Redesign or rebuild
You have a website that is a few years old. Your business has grown and diversified since the site was first built and you want to make some updates, for example, replace some existing images and revise some copy, maybe add an eCommerce component or some other new features or pages. You are also aware of 'search optimisation' and various web analytics, as your current site offers no analytics you also want this included.
How are you using Social Media?
Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace and Google + etc) is a great tool for creating awareness and promoting a brand, but a website is still required as the final destination. Websites are still the primary content for search and search is the primary way people find content on the web.

All to often I talk to a client who is paying an incredible amount of money on paid search but has done nothing about their natural, or organic site SEO. It continues to amaze me that so called 'search experts' immediately suggest paid search…

What is social media?
Social media is about having a conversation with others. It allows consumers to collaborate, create and share thoughts, knowledge, opinions and content. ‘Messaging’ is one-way and it is what corporate websites, advertising and PR campaigns do – don’t confuse the two!
