Your web presence
A website isn't the only 'digital presence' you should consider for your brand or company. On a regular basis you should assess your original objectives of your website and consider your target market. Are the original objectives still relevant? And where, when and how are your target market browsing your website.
To address the first point … are your original objectives still relevant. And consider your analytics, what are they telling you? Business and marketing objectives can change, your website should reflect this. Remember that your website is often the first impression that people have of you or your brand. Make sure they are getting the right first impression!
Some questions and thoughts ...
Does your website copy need to be updated? Do you need to add, remove or amend your products or services? Is the 'call-to-action' working for you? How many people have used the 'Contact Us' form? Does this need to be revised? As well as the 'front-end' considerations, how about the back-end? Is your website fully search optimised? Has your site been 'google verified'? Has your Sitemap XML file been updated lately?
Your analytics are an easy way to find the answers to most of these questions. Once you know the answers you can start working on your web presence. Whilst considering all of the above, also think about your target market … where, when and how are they browsing your website?
24/7 Accessibility
With the rapid growth and penetration of smart phones and tablets your site has to be viewable and 'browse-able' on these devices. Your website is accessible 24/7 and your browsers are searching 24/7, make sure they are able to view your site across all devices. As an exmaple, check out your website on your smart phone or tablet ... is it easy to view and navigate? 'Browse-ability' is very important, the navigation and click-throughs need to be able to work with a touch. If your navigation is small, has multiple levels or if the browser is required 'to cursor over' then the user may have issues whilst using some devices to view your website … again, try it for yourself!
